I completely agree with royking! Google is too smart these days and tools based auto submission of low quality and spinned content to tons of directories, article farms, etc. will not cut it any more. However getting a post onto a high authority blog with an in-content link is effective...but also hard work. I would go far blogs with many social followers (twitter, facebook etc.) as having articles pushed to these may give them likes, retweets etc... and I believe this the "backlinks" of the post Panda era....
