Why Do I Need a Dedicated IP for SEO?
There are many different things that a website owner has to think about and this means that a dedicated server will not be far from their thoughts. There are many different reasons why having dedicated servers are vital to creating a good looking website but one of the most important reasons revolves around SEO.
A dedicated IP brings a number of benefits for anyone looking to be found on the major search engines, which is obviously the key factor in raising business profile. Even though the search engines try to closely guard the ways in which they evaluate and rank websites, there is an acceptance that IP addresses can impact on the final ranking of a site.
A shared IP address means that your website will be linked in with other sites during this process, which can have a negative impact for two reasons. If the quality of the other sites is very low, it is likely to drag down the rating applied to your site. Also, if you own a number of sites, it would be of benefit to place links to each other on your different sites.
Using a dedicated IP for each site means that links between the sites will be given greater prominence by the search engine, providing a great starting point for increasing the number of legitimate links you have pointing towards your site.

Royking I agree with you and this is also why I use VPS or cloud hosting where I can buy IP-adresses from different segments for each site I have on a box. However if the content is good I dont think google will derank a good site for being on a shared IP. Many good sites are hosted on sites like wordpress.com, blogspot etc. and still will be able to rank.

Re:
It doesn’t really matter what you are trying to do with your website but having as many people being aware of your site is important. Even a personal site can bring benefit to other people and getting feedback from other people is always a nice way to develop your ideas and site. If you are running a site for business purposes, the need to have as many people as possible finding your site becomes a major issue for businesses.

In my opinion, it doesn't really matter if you get a dedicated ip for your SEO purposes because I can rank sites fine even if I use a shared package.
