Do not link to link-farms or other search engine unfriendly neighborhoods or do not use doorway pages because doorway pages are designed for robots only, not humans. Search engines like to index human friendly pages which contain content which is relevant to the search.

The most important thing is the content of your site is most important factor for ranking your website, After the update of Google panda content is playing an important role, if any content is found duplicate then their is high chance of getting your site ban, so its better to come up with fresh content to improve your ranking, at the same time you should not spam your site with keywords, if you put same keywords on many pages of your website then their is chance of getting you site spam.
