What is your website about and what's in it for the visitor?
You have only a few seconds to keep a visitor on your page. If the visitor is not convinced within seconds that your site is worth reading, he'll go away.
Clearly tell your website visitors which problem your product solves and why your solution is better than other solutions. This piece of information should be presented as prominently as possible.

Speed is very important to keep the visitor. Personally, I am clicking away when I have to wait more than 2 seconds. But your points are good to. Its an art to keep the visitor on your site and convince him to buy your products / services

Hehe, at blue backlinks the average time is also 5 minutes. that's quite long on average
its because of the links dropping in 1 by 1 though.

If you're looking to generate revenue via traffic, your website can't just be selling itself; your ads have to be synced up with the content on your site in order to give your customer the biggest swath to be marketed for. Example; a cooking site, needs to try to have ads and links devoted almost exclusively to cooking; having random ads to UFC matches or other random things will result in unclicked links and a lower average stopping time at your respective site. Keep your ads in sync with your content, and your sales will skyrocket!

Yes, I agree that loading time of a webpage is extremely important as viewer wont wait for more than few seconds. In the same way, the navigation of the website should not be complex. It is often observed that web designers makes the designs too complex while trying to make the design look fancy, if the visitor wont be able to find the required information, they would frustrated and you may will lose a potential customer. Thus, with a loading time of a website, it is critical to keep the navigation of a website as simple as possible.
