How important is Page Rank to you?

I would disagree to this statement. Popularity of a site (domain authority) and page popularity / authority is much more than PR. PR may or may not influence ranking of a page... however you can easily find PR 5 pages used by linkbuilders that doen't rank anywhere at all.

Pagerank may have had some importance earlier but I think it is long before the panda update. I believe that updated content (not just adding a link but really adding new value) is important and may give small rank boosts and also social indicators showing that some pages are in fact useful to people (likes, retweets etc.). Pages in this category rank well and links on these pages give great juice even if the pages are PR 0. This is what I experience! However building links on PR3+ pages may have some beneficial influence if not considered spammy. I think in this case diversity is important and good value content that pick up link naturally is the best.

Nomar you are right that for selling link on properties high PR is worth working for. However this is not for ranking which is what I prefer Selling links on a high PR page that also rank well will probably slowly but considerably kill its ranking. If you are into linkbuilding this is OK but if you do adsense and affiliates it is not recommended.

I think that PageRank is not very important for your site, because it is the other sites link to your site. If the high ranking sites link to you. You get more credibility.Gone are the days when the importance of PageRank a lot, I think it has now been dropped, but the original content of the website is the ruling party.
PR chase no longer exists, it has now been transferred to from DMOZ and Yahoo directory links to related sites.
