Knowledge of web development - a must?

It has become very much essential for the Internet worker to be well versed with web development too. If he were to start a blog of his own, he would do good to himself if he learns web development too. Any comments?

you need either one - knowledge or money.
if you can afford to get some designer for yourself then it is not necessary for you to have knowledge about web development.
For eg. in case of celebrities, they do maintain their blogs but i guess none of them knows how wordpress works.

Having said that if you cannot afford a designer then better get some book and start reading because thats the only thing which can make you make a website.

I still feel that the knowledge of web development has nothing to do with SEO.

You need to know the basics. How is a website build? How is the structure? etc..

You need to know what parts are there and what you need to do to improve

I believe seo and webdevelopment go hand in hand. If you knew seo, and not web development, you would be useless. as it takes a webdeveloper to make sure the coding matches seo. If you knew web development but not seo, you could make the super script and no one would see it.

Seo is about structuring for the internet as a whole.
Web development is about structuring for the site and its visitors.

Like I said you cant have one without the other

SEO stands for search engine optimisation..

The art of SEO is simply to opimise your site to make it more likely to be indexed by the search engines.
