What is MKV format?
MKV (.MKV) is a new video and audio container format similar to AVI, but with several new features like support for OGG audio, Variable Framerate Video. Matroska (MKV) is an open standards project. This means for personal use it is absolutely free to use and that the technical specifications describing the bitstream are open to everybody, even to companies that would like to support it in their products. The most common use of .MKV files is to store HD video files.

i love this format since the videos encoded in this format are nearly half the size of avi videos but give the same quality.

I rarely see MKVs nowadays (except for one anime that I'm currently watching) since most of the people online use either AVI or MP4 container. The only advantage I see with MKV is the dual audio feature and you can add or remove subs.

the biggest advantage is no doubt of size difference...

Well, you can't remove subs from videos using the AVI or MP4 container since they are hard-subbed.

i love this format as i have slow net connection
and cant download bigger files
mkv makes it easier,

I was thinking about using a .srt or .sub file and was wondering why you said that.
