Top level domain prices are based on what the registrar is charged. The lower the fee the owner of the TLD charges the registrar the lower the fee the registrar can charge for registering a domain.

For example, the .info TLD is owned by Afilias Limited. If Afilias charges registrars 50 cents per domain registrered and godaddy charges 89 cents per .info domain Afilias gets 50 cents of the 89 and godaddy gets to keep 39 cents.

Now, if a domain isn't used much the owner of a TLD might lower the fee for registering a new domain if there isn't enough demand in order to spike interest in the TLD. In the case of .info domains, it's likely that Afilias lowered the fee so that more people would purchase domains with that TLD thus boosting their revenue.

.info is seen her and there of course but as you said not very frequently like even .uk or .in . This is because it is in the stage of development.

They are cheap , because of Godaddy But there are no problems with them. One of my friends think these domains are cheap, because the sites on them don't index good , but this is a lie..

Maybe it isn't good for online marketers to invest on that domain because it is not popular compared to .com and .net.

its not a top level domain.
