Exclamation Domain age is a SEO factor

I just browsed the tutorial section of this forum, and saw a small discussion about the age of a domain and what it had to do with SEO.

It is not well known in the SEO world, but domain AGE and for how long it is registered in the future is helping you with rankings!

Never proved it myself though, and I don't know who did.. but I really believe this is true..

Correct me if I am wrong

    My thoughts:

    1. Website age (and its backlink profile age) is what really matters

    2. Domain age can play a minor part only as damping factor.. i.e. one of the factors signaling the search engine that this might be a spammy or illegitimate site

    3. Old domains may carry more weight due to their past records (i.e. old backlinks pointing to them), this can be a good point to consider but then again if you are serious about your brand, keep in mind that an established domain already has associations and history before you own it and they might be hard to conquer.

For future registrations.. so 5 year in advance or anything.. I don't know about this, but I believe it does help too, Google knows everything and I bet they put this in their ranking algorithm to!

Well the question is whether its worth spending more on registering as you only need to renew once a year.

I think it helps, I'm not sure that it helps much at all unless the domain is really old. Unfortunately, what can you do? A domain is either old or it isn't.

True, but this also goes for future expiring dates.. you can do something about that

If the domain is really good and old there is nothing to worry about as long it is doing well for you.

Yeah I think age of domains give a little juice for Page Rank, and if you have small content, maybe it will do good in SERP.

Yes, I have read in various places that domain age is a factor. And I have seen it first hand. My rankings for a couple of sites do seem to have improved a little over time, even if I have done little or no link building or content adding.

It seems that website are like wine - they get better with age!

Dont have any personal experience. The oldest domain i have is not even a year old. But i feel that it might play some role in SEO.

Ya..Domain age plays an important role SEO..
If your domain is old, you will get high rank..You can calculate this domain age using the WhoisXY.com . It is a whois tool which provides the details of domain (i.e) creation date..
