Building Links the Effective Way

So, I run a couple of sites and one of the things that I have to do on a pretty regular basis is increase the number of links that I have coming to my site with different keywords. These links are important because they ensure that I am continuing to rise in the search engines. However, the question that comes up is: how do I build links the right way so that I can gain more strength, but not get accused of spamming?

I use three big methods.

• Blog commenting - Duh? This is straight forward. Comment on other people's blog.
• Buying them - Anyone who says buying links isn't part of link building is a liar.
• Article marketing - Write an article, submit it to a directory and then watch in awe as you raise in the search engines. I use ezinearticles.com.

But...All of that aside, there are tons of other ways in which I build links. These are just three solid ones. How do you build links, though?

I am working on the first and the third one, didn't bought links so far, but might get some real relevant ones if I need them (I wait for the last, if i'm out of options and need that last push to get a top ranking)

@bashi: good you don't spend all your money right away! First test the waters if its worth it in the first place always good to build some natural links at the beginning, rather than buying

Your second tip is good,

Not to advertise but I have a PR2 Article Directory, you can have 4 links in each article (http://putyournews.in).. Try it if you want to build some links.

Your other tips are all good. I don't agree that blog commenting is the best but that's just my thought.

Another I like is forum signature links, just the way that sigs are indexed really helps me and makes me like that link building method.

Never said that blog commenting was the best. I just said it was an obvious technique. It's done best when you use it for some SEO purposes, but also, for building community. People go, "Oh man...That guy has some really great points, I wonder what his site is all about" and then they come along and check it out. The truth is, the best links are those that are bought. However, those that buy links need to look for the best ones available. I'd rather have one really powerful link than a bunch of tiny ones, ya know?

The problem I have.. Is most blog commenting services just post in Spam holes.

you can use google adwords service. they give your add at related websites. their rates are also not high.

You can also use social media accounts to boost your traffic such as Youtube and Twitter. The good thing about those two sites is they are free and you can create accounts right away.
