Please can anybody tell me sites other than ezine articles and articlebase that are do-follow and can be used to obtain backlinks?

No... eZine are elitist pigs. Yes, I have issues with them, but they are good for ranking.
GoArticles.com will get you on Page one of Google within hours of posting, which is immediate, not whenever they get around to approving your article (like EZA).
