    Default Is Directory Submission dead?

We all know that directories are easiest way to build back links. But,somehow I am listening or reading a lot that Search Engine doesn't prefer directory links any more.

Web directories were very big 2 years ago! It was big business! Now the value of a link in a directory is low! there are millions of directories online and it is to easy to get your link in them!

Google is giving less value to them but it is not dead at all! it still works and you can continue adding your site to directories! But there are better ways to get links

Directories used to be trusted by search engines not long time ago and back links from directories used to posses high value, not only that, but search engines used to use the source of information provided by directories in there results, however in the last 2 years there have been a serious abuse and manipulation of web directories from webmasters and directory owners which caused most directories to become from a trusted unique source of information to a source of link spam. Search engines in return took away that blinded trust from directories.

Search engines still gives value for back links coming from web directories but the value of the back links depends on each and every directory, in other words it depends on the quality of the directory, a back link from a well organized, well promoted, well monitored and free of spam directory is of course of a mush value than a back link from a directory which is ignored and is more likely to be link farm directory.

Submission to directories will never be dead and directories will never lose there importance in the web, a directory main role is to provide a comprehensive source of information for internet users and internet users will never stop looking for information and link builders will keep using directories to build there links and increase there traffic and ranking. in search engine.

Since the main role of search engines is the same role as directories, there will be competition between both which many webmasters and directory owners are unaware of.
