I agree that social bookmarking is effective and a must in the post Panda era. It is however not that important if it is do-follow or not. If your article or site gets viral on stubmeupon, digg, delicious, reddit etc. google will notice and probably it will have a positive effect on ranking for a while. Social indicators could be or become the backlinks of the future as it is much harder to trick than regular backlinks.
