    Hey, I've been making a site for a client, and have only recently found out (stupidly, I suppose ) that you need to apply for this stupid certificate thing to legally be allowed to store credit-card details on your site.

    It encrypts the sensitive data, like credit card numbers and such, to protect everyone. It's prolly a good idea. Look around, tho, I think different places sell the licenses at different prices. Look for the best deal you can find.

    Yeah, sites like Verisign are quite a bit more expensive than some you can find. I'm not sure what the cheapest you can find is though. I've always just used a third party so I didn't have to store credit card information.

    Not sure what exactly you're trying to do with your site, but I might consider using something like Google checkout. Saves a lot of effort and certainly will be cheaper.

    Well. rapidssl and thowti are cheap among all of them i ve seen.
